چکیده

An analytical solution to the transient heat conduction for a two dimensional cylindrical fin with general boundary conditions is obtained by the principle of superposition and separation variables. In the analysis, homogeneous material properties and thickness, the convective heat transfer coefficient, the ambient temperature and the fin properties are assume to be constant. The closed form transient temperature distribution and the heat transfer rate are generalized for a linear combination of the product of Bessel function, Fourier series and exponential. Key-Words: heat conduction, analytical temperature distribution, fins

Numerical Analysis of Transient Heat Transfer in Radial Porous Moving Fin with Temperature Dependent Thermal Properties

In this article, a time dependent partial differential equation is used to model the nonlinear boundary value problem describing heat transfer through a radial porous moving fin with rectangular profile. The study is performed by applying a numerical solver in MATLAB (pdepe), which is a centered finite difference scheme. The thermal conductivity and fin surface emissivity are linearly ...

Transient Two-Dimensional (r-z) Cyclic Charging/Discharging Analysis of Space Thermal Energy Storage Systems (RESEARCH NOTE)

A two-dimensional transient axi-symmetric model was developed to study the effects of various thermal and geometric parameters on cyclic heating and cooling modes of a phase-change thermal energy storage system. The high-temperature thermal energy storage device utilizes LiH for heat sink applications to store the waste heat generated during power-burst periods. The stored heat is then discharg...

Numerical investigation of heat transfer in a sintered porous fin in a channel flow with the aim of material determination

Extended surfaces are one of the most important approaches to increase the heat transfer rate. According to the Fourier law, the heat transfer increases by increasing the contact surface of body and fluid. In this study, the effect of heat transfer has been investigated on two sets of engineered porous fins, in which the balls with different materials are sintered together. The fluid flow throu...

Transient Temperature Analysis of a Cylindrical Heat Equation

The method of superposition and separation variables is applied to gain analytical solutions to the transient heat conduction for a two dimensional cylindrical fin. The temperature distributions are generalized for a linear combination of the product of Bessel function, Fourier series and exponential type for nine different cases. The solutions presented in this study can be used to verify the ...

Comparison of Two Kinds of Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells with Various Volume Fraction Laws for Vibration Analysis

In this paper, a study on the vibration of thin cylindrical shells made of a functionally gradient material (FGM) composed of stainless steel and nickel is presented. The effects of the FGM configuration are taken into account by studying the frequencies of two FG cylindrical shells. Type I FG cylindrical shell has nickel on its inner surface and stainless steel on its outer surface and Type II...
